AI will Influence the Future of Medical Treatment.

According to research published in the "Nature Machine Intelligence" Journal, AI has the ability to spot medical issues that humans may miss through a proactive mind.

AI researchers are working on building new algorithms from various sources. GOPHER is one of them.

GOPHER (GenOmic Profile-Model Comprehensive Evaluation) is a new method developed by Koo Lab to assist researchers in identifying the most efficient AI programmes for genome analysis. GOPHER is at Simons Center for Quantitative Biology at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

Research for AI to read the human genome is underway. This can help to predict the probability or incidence of diseases such as cancer and organ failures, and hence the need for kidney, liver, and heart transplants, etc. in humans.

This new method is a framework where algorithms can be systematically compared. It judges AI programmes on several criteria like adaptability to learn the biology of the human genome, prediction accuracy of features and patterns, background noise cancellation, and interpretability of decisions.

The GOPHER method has helped researchers learn more about AI algorithms that drive reliability, performance, and accuracy.

Future AI programmes may identify unique features of the human genome, which will pave the way for customising individual treatments and medicines.

Koo's team hopes "GOPHER will be useful in optimising AI algorithms and will help people in the future who are new to the field."
