Liposuction is an elective cosmetic procedure to get rid of that stubborn unwanted fat. In this, the doctor removes fat cells from a specific site of the body with the help of a small instrument.

It is a simple, outpatient procedure, meaning the patient can go home the same day as surgery. That said, it's essential to understand that your individual recovery time will vary. The fat reduction plan will be tailored according to the needs of patient's goals and preferences.

Because of this, liposuction recovery will be unique for every individual. For example, if we remove a large amount of fat from different parts of your body, it will probably take you longer to recover than if you remove a small amount from one area.

Liposuction Recovery Stages-

  • Immediately following surgery - Your doctor will use compression garments to put pressure on the surgical area. The process of applying compression garments is not uncomfortable since the operated area will be anesthetized during surgery.

  • A few hours post-surgery - The anesthesia will start to wear off after a couple of hours and some moderate discomfort will begin.

The pain level depends on the area where you have liposuction

Even though Liposuction is an outpatient surgery, it is recommended that you stay overnight at the hospital so that your doctor can observe any fluid changes and dehydration.

  • 3 to 5 days post-surgery - You’ll have to make a visit to your doctor to get the garments removed and they’ll assess the operated area.

  • The first week and beyond - Your doctor will advise you to do a gentle massage to move around accumulated fluid, smoothing over the area.

Note - Keep in mind that the recovery process varies for everyone and the type of liposuction that was performed.

What Can I Do To Improve Liposuction Recovery?

There are several things that you can do to speed up your recovery, such as:

  • Use Compression Garments - they can promote comfort and healing.

  • Walk around - To keep the blood flowing as it will help recover faster.

  • Apply ice - Icing the areas of liposuction will help ease any discomfort.

  • Take anti-inflammatory - It will help with pain relief.

When Will I See Positive Results in My Appearance?

You will see improvements in your target area as soon as your procedure is complete. Over the next few months, your appearance will continue to improve. You will be able to see the full effect of your procedure after about three months.

How Many Liposuction Sessions Will I Need?

Liposuction is an effective way to remove unwanted fat from your body, and you will likely see a significant improvement in your appearance after your surgery session. That being said, if you want to get rid of a lot of fat from different parts of your body, you may need more time to get the desired look.

How Long Will My Results Last?

Most cosmetic treatments are not permanent. Since your results will disappear quickly, you will want to invest your time and energy in regular maintenance treatments. Receiving treatment regularly can be stressful and expensive.

Unlike other treatments, liposuction can completely remove fat from your body. Hence, you won't need a frequent touch-up process. That said, liposuction does not remove all the fat cells from your body. You may still gain unwanted fat in the future.

The best way to maintain your new look is to exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet.

Can Liposuction be Treated to Remove Unwanted Fat After Pregnancy?

Pregnancy can be very taxing on your body. After giving birth, it's often frustrating to have fat that you can't lose on your own. Liposuction is a great way to target those fat deposits.

Procedures such as Liposuction can reverse many of the negative effects of pregnancy.
