Tell us about yourself.
I am Juliana Benzuwaah and I am from Ghana.
What made you come to India?
A few months before I was diagnosed with meningioma, I started having frequent headaches. Before I could do something, my vision too started getting blurred. As my symptoms worsened, I consulted a doctor who told me that I might have a brain tumour and needs surgery for the same. This came as a huge jolt to me. I could never think of it. But very soon, I managed to get it treated from a good doctor.
How did you choose the hospital the right place for treatment?
While I was looking for the best neurosurgeons in India, I came to know about Vaidam Health. I posted a query on their website and received a call back from one of their case managers. She helped me with the list of topmost doctors and their profiles. She also got me hospital opinions and associated quotes. I went through the list, talked to the doctor and decided to visit Fortis Memorial Research Institute.
How was your visit to India arranged?
The case manager helped me to get the Visa Invitation Letter from the hospital. The visa application process was also done by the Vaidam team. I only had to give my information. Other than this, the accommodation was also arranged by the team as per my preferences. My pickup and drop off from the airport was also arranged by team members.
What was your experience at the hospital?
After I arrived in India, I was picked up from the airport and my appointment was scheduled with the doctor. Dr. Sandeep Vaishya, who is an eminent neurosurgeon in India took my history and carefully evaluated me. After sending me for further investigations, it was confirmed that I had “meningioma”.
Meningioma is a tumor that originates in the layers that cover the brain and spinal cord, known as meninges.
On a suitable date, my surgery was done successfully. I stayed in the hospital for a few days. The doctor discussed with me about the precautions that I would need to take in future and answered all my queries. I also came back to India for a follow-up visit. Now I have recovered well and living a disease-free life.
My entire medical visit at the hospital was trouble-free. The hospital staff and the Vaidam team assisted me in everything and were quite reliable.
