The world seems like a secure place when you are young and thriving, but life comes with its twisted tale of ups and downs. For some, it may turn out to be darker than others, but there is always a ray of sunshine that radiates at the end of the road. A similar instance happened with our 17-year-old young patient, Al-Ameen Bolaji Oyekanmi from Nigeria. After suffering from a life-threatening injury such as an electrical shock, his family did everything possible to help him, however, nothing worked out positively. The injury was so dreadful that a said portion of his skull had to be removed with the help of craniectomy.
It is at that instance when Rasak Oyeyinka Oyekanmi and Bolaji Bose Balogun, Al-Ameen Bolaji’s attendants searched for the best neurosurgeons in India and discovered about Vaidam Health. After dropping in an inquiry, the case manager at Vaidam promptly contacted the patient’s family and gave them all possible assistance regarding the matter. Starting from the best hospital they ca select for the craniectomy surgery to the most experienced and qualified doctor for the procedure.
After carefully analyzing all the parameters such as the budget, location, and travel time, the case managers curated a list for the patient’s family. They then decided to go ahead with Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) hospital at Gurgoan and visit Dr. Sandeep Vaishya for his excellent understanding and skills in the field. With his meticulous approach, Dr. Sandeep was able to successfully operate a craniectomy and with minimal downtime. “Al-Ameen Bolaji’s case was particularly peculiar as the electrical energy caused direct tissue damage, eliciting muscle tetany and altering cell membranes. We had to work quickly and provide the family with the best solution, and that’s what we did,” said Dr. Sandeep.
It was a very successful operation and Al-Ameen Bolaji recovered extensively. When we asked Al-Ameen Bolaji about his whole experience with Vaidam, he said, “I can’t express how happy, pleased, and thankful I am for the help and assistance provided to me by Vaidam. Not only them but Dr. Sandeep Vaishya and the entire team at FMRI were wonderful.”
“From the moment I was in contact with the Vaidam team, I felt how genuine and warm everyone in India is. I immediately knew that my family took the right decision to get me here and I am so incredibly happy with my outcome,” he added.
Rasak Oyeyinka Oyekanmi, one of Al-Ameen Bolaji’s attendants added, “I’m hoping that through our story, others may also feel more prepared if a loved one has to undergo a procedure such as a craniectomy. I’m grateful that Al-Ameen had the surgery done in India and it has surely given us a new perspective in life. Today, Al-Ameen is back to dedicating his time to his studies and be a voice to all the youngsters on how to deal with a trauma like this. He’s glad to be back to his active lifestyle and plans to travel to India soon.
