67-Year-Old Undergoes the Innovative Procedure of Stemless Total Shoulder Replacement for the First time at Global Hospital

A 67-year-old's shoulder successfully underwent a first of its kind stemless total shoulder replacement in India.
As the patient suffered from severe shoulder arthritis for almost 2 years, Dr. Chintan Desai of Global Hospitals, Mumbai, performed the replacement surgery with a special type of stemless shoulder implant.
The procedure and the new type of implant ensures negligible damage and pain to the shoulder muscles, said Dr. Desai.
The implant consisting of a metal ball and a palstic socket was put in place of the arthritic shoulder joint without any complication.
