If you are reading this and have ever experienced a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma diagnosis, you are aware of how complex the process may be. However, a positive mindset, skilled medical care, and early action can make all the difference.
Ms. Octavia Pipette, from Vanuatu, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She was suffering from immense pain and discomfort that she was unable to walk on her own. She needed a wheelchair to get around. But she was determined to fight.
Octavia discovered us on Facebook while searching for treatment options. Given the seriousness of her case, a case manager was appointed to help her immediately.
After a comprehensive conversation about her illness, the patient agreed to come to India. All of the arrangements, such as a medical visa, flight tickets, accommodation, hospital selection, and doctor appointments, were made beforehand. She was referred to Dr. Gaurav Dixit, a bone marrow transplant(BMT) specialist and haematologist at Artemis Hospital.
During their visit, Dr. Dixit carefully evaluated her condition and recommended chemotherapy treatment. Octavia’s chemotherapy started at Artemis Hospital, and her condition started to improve after six rounds of chemotherapy.
As the treatment continued, she gradually regained her strength and was able to walk on her own again for the first time in a long time.
Since some lymph nodes were still visible, the doctor recommended that she undergo four more cycles of chemotherapy to get the most remarkable results.
She was also advised to undergo an autologous bone marrow transplant (BMT) for long-term remission, but she chose to continue with medication for now and may opt for the transplant later.
Octavia came with her friend, Rory, and they both stayed in India for 3 months. Here, she received personalised medical attention and constant encouragement from the Vaidam team. Her experience serves as an important example of the value of patience and professional medical advice.
Back home, Octavia is taking her medication as prescribed and monitoring her health. She is highly thankful for the amazing support she received from Dr. Gaurav Dixit and the Vaidam Health team.
