Is Coronavirus more Dangerous than Flu?

DEATH RATE

Flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 every year around the world according to the reports by WHO. 

COVID-19 caused by the new coronavirus is a flu-like illness that has so far killed a fraction of the number of people that the flu kills every year.

However the mortality rate of Coronavirus is higher than flu, and the ability to transmit and mutate is higher than common flu.

PREVENTION 

The flu can't be stopped because it's already in the population but COVID-19 cases can be restricted while treatments are being developed.

SYMPTOMS

• Flu, cold and coronavirus often share certain symptoms but there is a difference in intensity and how sooner or later they appear.
• Flu symptoms include a runny nose, headaches and possibly vomiting or diarrhea, though the latter two are more common in children than adults.
• Symptoms of COVID-19 may appear more slowly and includes fever, dry cough and noticeable shortness of breath.
• Few people develop pneumonia and the disease is problemsome for the elderly and those with other medical problems such as high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes or any heart condition.

PREVENTION

For flu there is a vaccine but as if now there is no vaccine developed for coronavirus.
