Ethiopia, a diverse country in East Africa, has made notable progress in improving its healthcare system. However, access to senior specialists, particularly in neurosurgery and spine care, remains limited for many patients.

To help address this gap, Vaidam Health, in association with Hisar Hospital Intercontinental, organised an OPD consultation camp in Addis Ababa. The camp was held at Bethesda American Medical Plaza on 5th and 6th February, giving patients the opportunity to consult Dr. Ertugrul Pinar, a senior neurosurgeon, without having to travel abroad.

The camp focused on neurological and spine conditions, where early specialist advice can play an important role in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

The OPD consultation camp featured Dr. Ertugrul Pinar, a senior neurosurgeon associated with Hisar Hospital Intercontinental.

During the two-day camp, he consulted patients suffering from various neurological and spine-related conditions, including brain tumours, epilepsy, stroke, head injuries, and spine and disc disorders. Some patients brought their medical reports and imaging scans, which were carefully reviewed during the consultations.

Through detailed discussions, he helped patients understand their diagnosis and guided them on possible treatment options and next steps for managing their condition.

Strong Patient Participation

The OPD consultation camp saw encouraging participation from patients across Addis Ababa and nearby areas. Over the two days, 49 patients attended the camp to seek expert advice for neurological and spine-related conditions.

The consultations allowed patients to discuss their symptoms directly with the specialist. Patients expressed appreciation for the opportunity to consult an experienced neurosurgeon, leaving the camp with greater clarity about their health concerns and understanding of various treatment options.
