Vaidam Health and Medanta Host a Two-Day OPD Camp in Ethiopia
Healthcare access is improving across Ethiopia, and international medical collaborations are playing an increasingly significant role in supporting patients who require advanced expertise. One such initiative recently took place in Addis Ababa, where a special two-day OPD camp was organized by Vaidam Health in collaboration with Medanta – The Medicity, Gurgaon.
Held on October 28th and 29th, 2025, at Senay Medical Center in Luncha, the camp welcomed Ethiopian patients who were eager for expert guidance from two of India’s most respected specialists: Dr. Harpreet Wasir and Dr. Satya Pal Kataria.
Meet the Experts Who Made It Happen
Dr. Harpreet Wasir – Cardiac Surgery Specialist
As the Associate Director of Cardiac Surgery at Medanta, Dr. Wasir brings over 30 years of experience in handling complex heart procedures, including valve replacements, bypass surgeries, and advanced minimally invasive treatments.
Across the two days, he met patients dealing with long-standing issues like chest pain, breathlessness, and irregular heart rhythms. What stood out was not just his expertise, but also his calm and reassuring approach.
One patient shared, “I’ve had chest pain for years, but no one explained my condition like Dr. Wasir did. Now I know what steps to take.”
Dr. Satya Pal Kataria – Senior Medical & Hemato Oncologist
With over 27 years of experience in oncology, Dr. Kataria has treated cancers of the breast, lung, stomach, prostate, and blood. For many patients at the camp, it was the first time they had spoken to a senior oncologist of international experience.
He spent a generous amount of time with each patient reviewing scans, explaining diagnoses, and guiding them on treatment pathways, whether in Ethiopia or India.
A Warm and Heartfelt Community Response
Over the two days, more than 25 patients visited the camp. Some came for second opinions, others traveled from nearby towns simply wanting clarity. The energy inside the clinic felt positive and calm. Patients waited with their medical reports, and many walked out smiling — a clear sign of the comfort they found.
The Vaidam Health team was actively present throughout the camp, helping with registrations, translations, and ensuring every patient felt supported.
What really made the camp special was the human connection with doctors who listened, explained, encouraged, and genuinely cared.
Moving the Mission Forward
Inspired by the success of the Ethiopia OPD camp, Vaidam Health and Medanta are preparing for more similar initiatives across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and other African countries.
The vision is to bring world-class Indian medical expertise directly to patients where they live.
These camps do more than offer medical advice; they give people the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their treatment, whether locally or abroad.
For many, one conversation becomes the starting point of their journey to recovery.
A Journey of Care Beyond Borders
This two-day OPD camp in Ethiopia is a powerful reminder that compassionate healthcare knows no boundaries. By creating a bridge between Indian doctors and Ethiopian patients, Vaidam Health and Medanta – The Medicity are transforming lives, one consultation at a time.
For everyone who attended the camp, it wasn’t just a medical consultation; it was reassurance, renewed confidence, and the feeling of being truly understood.
And for dozens of households across Addis Ababa and beyond, this camp marked the beginning of a brighter, more hopeful chapter.
