A Teen's Rare Congenital Vaginal Disease was Successfully Cured at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital

• A 12-year-old teen, Sakshi, suffered from severe abdominal pain due to a rare congenital disease.
• She suffered from Vaginal Atresia which indicates an underdeveloped vaginal canal. 
• According to the Reconstructive Urologist, Dr. Sanjay Pandey, at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, it is because of this reason that during menstruation, the menstrual blood thickened and accumulated in her uterus instead of flowing out.
• Her parents thought that it would be UTI or appendicitis but later the MRI showed that there was a lot of blood accumulated near her kidney and uterus.
• At Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Dr. Pandey applied the abdomino-perineo procedure.
• Over a half litre of blood that was collected in the teen's swollen uterus in the past six months was drained out.
• The teen now has a reconstructed vagina and is gradually recovering at the hospital.
