- On week 24 of Sheetal Zalte's pregnancy, the ultrasound conducted at Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital, Mumbai, revealed that she has conceived twins.
- But the sad fact was that the twins were conjoined not only at the hip and abdomen but also shared a fused liver, intestine, urinary bladder and chest bone.
- Although fused down the abdomen, Love and Prince had individual brains, lungs, heart, hands and limbs.
- Doctors at the hospital adviced the couple to wait for minimum six months post delivery to perform the surgery.
- After the wait was over, the twins underwent a complex 13 hours long surgery at the hospital performed by a team of 20 doctors on December 12.
- According to the CEO of Wadia Hospitals, Dr Minnie Bodhanwala, the twins had to undergo multiple surgeries to ensure a healthy survival.
- During the surgery, providing skin to cover both the children posed to be big challenge for the doctors.
- After the successful surgery the twins are kept are now kept under observation in the PICU.
