Successful Orthopaedic OPD Camp in Fiji: Expert Care by Dr. Vivek Mahajan

In a positive step toward improving access to specialised healthcare in Fiji, Vaidam Health, in collaboration with HealthPlus and the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, successfully organised a two-day orthopaedic consultation camp on May 19 and 20, 2025.

The camp was held at two convenient locations, Zens Medical Centre, Nadi, on May 19, and HealthPlus Diagnostics, Suva, on May 20. This initiative brought expert orthopaedic care closer to Fijian communities in need.

Expert Consultations by Dr. Vivek Mahajan

The highlight of the medical camp was Dr. Vivek Mahajan, a Senior Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Surgeon with over 24 years of experience. He is the Head of the Department of Orthopaedics at Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, one of India’s most reputed institutions for bone and joint care.

Patients had the unique chance to consult Dr. Vivek Mahajan in person, right in Fiji, without the need to travel abroad. He offered expert guidance on a wide range of joint and mobility issues, including knee and hip replacements, ligament and rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, cartilage damage, and other sports-related conditions.

Excellent Turnout and Community Impact

The OPD camp witnessed a strong turnout from both Nadi and Suva, with more than 20 patients seeking expert guidance for long-standing joint and mobility issues. For several attendees, it was their first opportunity to consult a senior orthopaedic specialist locally. 

Dr. Mahajan’s detailed assessments and personalised advice provided clarity and reassurance. The initiative was widely appreciated and marked a meaningful step toward accessible specialised care in Fiji.
