Scoliosis is a spinal deformity that bends the vertebral column sideways altering the structure of the body. It occurs right before puberty and gradually aggravates with time if left untreated, soon affecting the lungs and other organs near the spine. 15-year-old Mary Rachel Maitee Khodabacus from Mauritius suffered from a severe 50 degrees spinal curve due to scoliosis. Where did Mary have her treatment in India?

We took her to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai where she underwent a scoliosis correction surgery. It was performed by Dr. Abhijit Pawar.  

How difficult was it for her to carry out the day-to-day chores?

It was very difficult for her to stand or sit properly. The curve had aggravated to such an extent that her movement got restricted. Doctors back in Mauritius told that she requires an immediate surgery else her condition will worsen.
