Orthopaedic and Spine OPD Camp in Sierra Leone by Vaidam Health and CARE Hospitals
Access to specialised orthopaedic and spine care remains limited for many patients in Sierra Leone, leading to years of untreated joint pain, spine disorders, and mobility challenges. As part of its ongoing healthcare outreach in Africa, Vaidam Health, in collaboration with CARE Hospitals, India, organised a two-day Orthopaedic & Spine OPD Consultation Camp in Freetown to address this gap.
The camp was conducted on 4th and 5th December 2025 at Freetown International Hospital, offering local patients the opportunity to consult Dr. Chandhan M, Senior Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon from CARE Hospitals, India.
About the Specialist – Dr. Chandhan M
Dr. Chandhan M is a highly experienced Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon, specialising in the treatment of a wide range of bone, joint, and spinal conditions. His expertise includes spine surgery, minimally invasive spinal procedures, knee and hip replacement, sports injuries, ligament injuries, slipped disc, scoliosis, spinal deformities, fractures, and chronic back and neck pain.
During the camp, Dr. Chandhan carefully reviewed patient reports and imaging, explained diagnoses clearly and reassuringly, and discussed both surgical and non-surgical treatment options. His patient-friendly approach helped many individuals understand their condition and possible next steps for the first time.
Strong Response from Patients in Freetown
The OPD camp witnessed a steady flow of patients over both days. Many arrived with X-rays, MRI scans, and previous medical records, seeking clarity on long-standing pain or guidance on whether surgery was truly required.
The Vaidam Health team supported patients throughout the camp by managing registrations, coordinating consultations, and assisting with communication. Patients appreciated the smooth organisation and the chance to receive expert specialist advice close to home.
Why This Camp Was Important for Sierra Leone
The camp brought specialist orthopaedic and spine care closer to patients who often face delays in diagnosis and treatment. By offering expert consultations locally, the program helped patients gain clarity, avoid unnecessary travel abroad, and plan the next steps in their care. For many, it was their first interaction with an international orthopaedic and spine specialist.
Vaidam Health’s Ongoing Outreach in Africa
Vaidam Health continues to work towards making world-class healthcare accessible beyond borders. By organising OPD camps and specialist consultations across African countries, Vaidam helps patients receive reliable medical guidance without the immediate burden of international travel.

Taking Expert Care Closer to Home
