Treatment: Two-stage heart surgery
Baby Rewanie Kalsau, a one-year-old girl from Vanuatu, was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a complex heart condition. When her parents learned about her diagnosis, they were deeply worried and unsure about the next steps. Looking for advanced treatment options, they came across Vaidam Health through social media and decided to seek care in India.
Upon arrival in India, Baby Rewanie was taken to Artemis Hospital in Gurgaon, where Dr. Aseem R. Srivastava, an experienced paediatric heart surgeon, evaluated her. He patiently explained her condition and the treatment plan, helping the family feel reassured and hopeful.
Baby Rewanie first underwent PA Banding with BT Shunt surgery to stabilise her heart and prepare her for the next stage of treatment. The procedure was successful, and she recovered well with close medical care.
A few months later, she returned for her second surgery, the Arterial Switch Operation. While the recovery period required careful monitoring, the surgery went well, and Baby Rewanie gradually regained strength and improved steadily.
The family stayed in India for nearly three months. Throughout this time, Vaidam Health supported them with hospital coordination, accommodation, travel, and daily assistance, enabling them to focus entirely on their child’s recovery.
Her parents shared, “This journey was not easy for us, but the support we received made all the difference. From medical care to daily help, everything was well managed. Today, as we prepare to return home, we feel grateful and hopeful for our child’s future.”
Vaidam Health is proud to have supported Baby Rewanie and her family and wishes her a healthy and joyful life ahead.
