New Innovation to Combat Breast Cancer

The cancer with which the world is most familiar is breast cancer. According to the 2012 statistics, about 1.7 million cases was diagnosed with breast cancer.The US, India and China account for about one third of the breast cancer cases around the world. 

Recently researchers have taken big steps in finding a cure for it. In stead of depending on lumpectomy and masectomy, doctors are moving on to radiation and new therapeutic treatments. New innovations around cancer treatment are now coming to assistance to provide a faster and better cure. 

The most significant frontier to cure breast cancer is cancer immunotherapy, which in other words can be defined as a procedure to restore the bdy's own immune system to combat malignant cells. More than 100 clinical immunotherapy trials are being performed globally. Immunotherapy drugs arer being processed, the implementation of which looks promising. Though the new age breast cancer treatment is expensive for most patients, yet much initiatives are being taken to make it more available to all the patients worldwide.    

Another approach to the treatment describes breast cancer to be not just one particular disease but an amalgamation of a dozen biologically different diseases. Parents of this approach, experts at  Anne Arundel Medical Center, USA, are trying their best to reduce the use of aggressive surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments from a duration of six weeks to three weeks or even less. Adaptive thearpy is gaining prominence that aims to reduce the suffering from intense treatments. Doctors have also given a thumbs up in performing metronic therapy that concentrates on tolerable doses and oral medication. Oncoplastic surgery (that involves both cancer surgery and plastic surgery) and proton therapy is given a go-ahead in the medical world.   

Impactful hormonal treatments and new aromatase inhibitors are being highly recommended for cancer treatments. Bone-directed treatments and drugs are also being developed to eradicate the cancer that has spread to the bones. The risk of fractures caused by metastatic breast cancer has also been reduced by using these drugs.

Researches on radiation therapy has now shown compared to a whole breast radiation tharapy, a single shot is enough to eradicate breast cancer effectively and without any side effects.   

Moreover an interesting research is on the go that aims at destroying the cancer causing genes in the body. Other researches include the prevention and early detection of cancer through innovation like Scinti-mammography. 

While several researches are going on globally, let's hope that the cure of breast cancer and all the other cancer forms can be implemented at its best in the future.
