Narayana Health City Saves 2-year-old Zeenia with the Help of her 8-month-old Brother

The child from Pakistan was not only suffering from a rare disease but also partial albanism since birth

Narayana Health City extracted bone marrow from an eight-month-old to save his two-year-old sister from Pakistan.
Two-year-old Zeenia from Sahiwal in Pakistan suffered from Hemaphagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis.
It is a rare disease that involves the production of some abnormal cells by the bone marrow.
These abnormal cells eradicate the normal cells causing high fever, low blood counts and enlargement of liver and spleen.
Along with the fatal disease, Zeenia was also diagnosed with partial albinism since birth.
Doctors at Narayana Health City suggested that a bone marrow transplant is the only way to save her.
Luckily, the doctors also discovered that her eight-month-old brother, Ryan was the best donor match for her.
Successful extraction of the bone marrow was possible with the use of small marrow extraction neddles and the help of the anesthetics team in the hospital.
