India's Fastest Hip Replacement Surgery Breaks the World Record

Fortis Escorts Hospital, New Delhi, India, conducted the fastest hip-ball replacement surgery in 15 minutes and 35 seconds, setting a world record.
Dr Kaushal Kant Mishra led the team of surgeons who performed surgery on an octagenarian patient in the shortest duration for such a surgery globally.
Sumitra Sharma, 86, of Bihar, fractured her hip in a fall. She had previously been treated for breast cancer, underwent angioplasty 18 years ago, and was also on double-dose blood thinners.

With complicated medical issues, the doctor decided to perform angiography on Sumitra before her hip surgery and added heparin to her blood thinners, which makes her situation quite complex.
As a result, the patient required a quick hip surgery, which was completed in 15 minutes and 35 seconds.
According to the hospital, the surgery was completed in 3 minutes less than the previous record, which was also set by Dr Mishra and his team, and is the shortest duration surgery known so far globally.
