Great news for international travelers planning to visit India for medical procedures! The Indian government has announced that it is reopening its scheduled international flights from the 27th of March, 2022.
A statement issued by the Civil Aviation Ministry declares, "After having recognized the increased vaccination coverage across the globe and in consultation with the stakeholders, the Government of India has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to/from India from 27.03.2022, i.e. start of Summer Schedule 2022."
This is has come after a long hiatus of 2 years from the start of the Coronavirus pandemic in March 2020. However, some flights with countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, the UAE, the UK, and the US continued under bilateral air bubble agreements. The Air Bubble arrangements allowed two countries to operate flights into each other's territories subject to certain conditions - also stand revoked, announced Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
A significant reduction in covid cases and nearly 1.8+ billion vaccination doses given in India prompted the government’s decision to resume international flights. The crucial point to note is the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare must be followed at all costs for the reopening of international flights.
