Hillary Kipchumba from Kenya gets a New Life After Recovering from RTA with the Help of ISIC, New Delhi
“My son is 27 years old. He has RTA since 2013. He needs further treatment”. These were the first words of a father, who had been anxious for his son, Hillary Kipchumba from Kenya for a long time. Hillary had Renal Tubular Acidosis for last 5 years.
Normally, the kidneys remove excess acid from blood, but certain diseases, genetic defects, or drugs can damage a kidney's ability to do this important job. This can allow too much acid to build up in the blood and cause problems. When this happens, it's called renal tubular acidosis (RTA). This may lead to muscle weakness, fatigue, impaired growth, and other related symptoms.

Due to a long duration of his condition, Hillary’s symptoms kept worsening. In addition, he came across a head injury after which his symptoms were aggravated further. He started having weakness on the left side of the body due to which he could not stand without a support. Moreover, his speech was also slurred. He had been receiving occupational physiotherapy in the past without much benefit. Ultimately, his father happened to contact with Vaidam Health in 2018. He has elaborated the possible treatment options from the best orthopedic surgeon in India.
Soon the patient was scheduled to come to India on 9th July 2018. He was accompanied by his father and his brother. His appointment was fixed with Dr. Vivek Mahajan, one of the best orthopedics doctor in India at Indian Spinal Injury Center. On the appointment date, Dr. Mahajan took a detailed medical history of the patient and did a thorough examination. Subsequently, his treatment plan was created and explained to him.
At the end of his treatment from Dr. Vivek Mahajan, after approximately 2 months, Hillary could not only stand or walk but also started to work out including cycling. To see his son walking and exercising, he was utterly surprised and joyful. When recently contacted by Vaidam Team, it was known he exercises regularly. His father still sends the videos of his son working out sometimes.
Vaidam Health wishes him a happy and a lively time ahead in life.
