Vinod, a 55-year-old Fiji national, was suffering from back pain, which was recurring and also radiating to the lower left limb. His medical condition led him not to walk or do any physical activity properly.
Mr. Vinod decided to seek treatment outside his home country, so he started looking online for assistance, and that is when he came across us. We assigned a case manager and advised him to fly to India for the best possible treatment.
The patient, his wife, and daughter came to India and consulted the doctors. Upon evaluating his reports, the doctors found that he was distressed with lumbar spondylosis (degeneration of lower back) and spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal).
He underwent a successful surgery performed by Dr. Aashish (Orthopedic & Spine Surgeon), Dr. Amit (Neurosurgeon), and Dr. Nagesh (Neurosurgeon) at Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi.
The surgery involved several key steps:
-
Placement and fixation of bilateral rods to stabilize the spine.
-
Laminectomy at the L5 level to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerves and posterior spinal decompression further to alleviate pressure from the back side of the spine.
-
Bilateral foraminotomy between the L4 and S1 levels was performed to widen the neural foramina and reduce nerve compression.
The surgical team achieved hemostasis, ensuring that bleeding was controlled throughout the procedure.
Mr. Vinod is advised to follow a regular low-salt diet, and in case of severe pain, avoid forward bending and sitting with crossed legs. He was discharged in stable condition, with all vital signs within normal limits.
The family stayed in India for two weeks and appreciated that the Vaidam team made everything easy.
Sending him warm wishes for a speedy recovery, we eagerly look forward to seeing him free from pain!
