Ayurvedic treatment in India

Ayurveda had been suppressed for long time due to excessive use of foreign medicine. However, in the current era, the revival of Ayurveda has a great influence on the treatment of various ailments.

Ayurveda is a  5000-year-old way of healing the body in a natural way. As its name indicates, “ayur” means life and “veda” means science. Hence, ayurveda is science of life. It provides insight to help an individual realise complete human potential. It also helps in maintaining good health and dealing with illness through yoga, herbal medicines, dietary and lifestyle changes. It is a way of complete physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.

 

Energies of ayurveda

As per ayurveda, there are three fundamental energies, that regulate well-being of a person. These are:

  • Vata (wind)

  • Pitta (fire)

  • Kapha (earth)

These are the primary forces responsible for the characteristics for mind and body. It is significant to have a balanced proportion of these three energies.

Vata

This consists of the energy of movement. It is related to creativity and flexibility. It governs the flow of breath, heart beats, muscle and tissue movements, cellular mobility throughout the body.

Pitta

This represents the energy of transformation and linked to the fire element. This is closely associated with intelligence, emotions, thoughts, understanding and digestion of food.

Kapha

Kapha is related to the structure, solidity and cohesiveness to all the things. This dosha hydrates all cells and systems, lubricates the joints, moisturizes the skin, maintains immunity and protects the tissues.

Approximate cost may vary from 164 USD to 900 USD.

Abhyangam

In this form of treatment, special types of oil massages are given in which strokes are corresponding to the diseases. This is done for 45 minutes over a period obesity, diabetic gangrene etc.

Medicated steam bath

Certain leaves and herbs are passed to the whole body with steam for 10-20 minutes. This is usually done for to cure skin disease, eliminate impurities from the body, improve the tone of the body and to reduce fat.
