After Toggling through Three Hospitals, New Born was Saved from the Fatal Congenital Heart Defect at Kanchi Kamakoti Child's Trust Hospital

• A day after Mohammad Yusuf's son was born, he noticed that his one day old baby suffered from breathlessness and cyanosis.
• By the time he was taken to the local hospital that was 40 minutes drive away, little Mohammad Arshad had turned blue.
• Although he was put on ventilator and was diagnosed to suffer from a congenital heart defect, the doctors advised Yusuf to take him to another hospital that would provide him with the required treatment.  
• Thereafter the first five days of Arshad's life toggled between three hospitals and two ambulance rides.
• Finally, after a complex surgery of four hours performed by the team of cardiac surgeons led by Dr. Prashant Shah at Kanchi Kamakoti Child's Trust Hospital, Chennai, the baby was saved.
• According to Dr. Shah, the two main arteries (aorta and pulmonary artery) in his heart were reversed that changed the normal course of blood circulation.
• An artery switch procedure was performed where both the arteries' positions were corrected.
