Ryan Otik Okii, a 10-year-old boy from Uganda, had been battling sickle cell disease since early childhood and needed a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Due to the limited treatment options available in his home country, his family began searching for better medical care abroad. While searching online, they came across Vaidam Health and submitted an inquiry to explore advanced treatment possibilities in India.
The team carefully reviewed the case and suggested the best doctors and hospitals for his treatment. His family chose Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) Hospital in Delhi, and the team assisted them with everything from obtaining their visas and booking doctor appointments to arranging comfortable accommodations in India.
After successful HLA matching and preparation, Ryan arrived in India accompanied by his mother. Upon arrival, Ryan was evaluated by renowned Pediatric Hematologist and BMT expert, Dr. Vikas Dua.
Following initial tests and evaluations, Ryan underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant under close supervision. His hospital stay lasted around 25–26 days. With post-transplant care and follow-up lasting over 100 days, Ryan responded positively and showed remarkable improvement.
Ms. Julia, Ryan’s mother, shared, “Vaidam never left us alone. From the moment we arrived, they were like family, guiding us through appointments, accommodation, and emotional support. And now, seeing Ryan healthy and smiling fills our hearts with joy. I would like to extend my thanks to the entire team. When we go back home, we’ll definitely be your ambassadors. I encourage others to trust this company and consider coming to India for the best treatment.”
We at Vaidam Health are deeply honored to have been part of Ryan’s recovery journey and wish him a bright, healthy future ahead.
