Prof. Dr. Ozer Makay is a skilled and reputed General Surgeon with +15 years of experience in the field of various general surgery procedures.
He completed his undergrad medical education from Ege University, School of Medicine. He then did residency, internship and then fellowship under the supervision of renowned surgeons and professors. He then cleared the 'UEMS Board Examination for Endocrine Surgery'.
With this, Dr. Makay became the first Turkish surgeon to earn the 'Fellow of European Board of Surgery – div. Endocrine Surgery'.
In 2008, he started the 'Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy Programme' at the Ege University with Prof. Dr. Mahir Akyıldız. Later in 2012, he also contributed to the launch of the 'Robotic Surgery Programme'.
Dr. Makay is a renowned general surgeon of endocrine and robotic surgery. He also performs several other procedures such as, obesity surgery, gastroenterologic surgery, stomach and esophageal surgery, mastectomy, abdominal wall hernia surgeries, laparoscopic achalasia surgery, liver/pancreas/biliary tract surgeries, reflux and colorectal cancer surgeries.
He has received 17 awards and honours for studies presented at national and international congresses.
He was invited to join the European Board of Endocrine Surgery Committee, thus becoming the first Turkish member of the committee. He was also chosen as the national representative of a European Union Health Project concerning endocrine surgery.
Dr. Makay has contributed to over 80 national and international publications and has participated in +30 national and international conferences as speaker, guest surgeon and instructor. He has toured France, S.Korea, Italy, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands as a guest speaker.
