He received the Ministry of Manpower Award in 2001, and in 2004 he earned his MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and his Master of Medicine in Surgery from NUS. He later attained his Specialist Accreditation in Plastic Surgery certificate in 2010.
