- Following MBBS in Singapore, trained in General Surgery in the UK. Became Fellow of the FRCS (England) and FRCS (Edinburgh).
- He developed an interest in Plastic Surgery and trained in Plastic Surgery at Mt Vernon, East Grinstead, and subsequently Singapore General Hospital.
- He attained a Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine in 1988. Subspecialised in Craniofacial Surgery with HMDP Fellowship to the Australasian Craniofacial Unit (1990) and the USA (1995).
- The doctor was the first Chief of Plastic Surgery Service at KKH.
- He participated regularly in Medical Missions overseas since 1991 and continues to actively do so.
- He served as President of SAPS 1998-2000, President of the Asia-Pacific Craniofacial Association, and continues to serve as President, the Society for Surgery and Medicine Singapore.
- The doctor involved in education as Chairman of RAC (Plastic Surgery) and STC (1998 till present) and various committees at MOH overseeing Aesthetic Practice, Liposuction, Plastic Surgery Training and Medisave.
