Dr. Seongeun Byun

Dr. Seongeun Byun is a board-certified Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi, bringing 21 years of clinical excellence. Widely recognized in South Korea and internationally, Dr. Byun is an authority in lower extremity reconstruction, geriatric hip fractures, and complex arthroplasty.

Dr. Byun received his MD from Seoul National University in 2004, followed by orthopedic residency at Seoul National University Hospital and Asan Medical Center. He completed his MS (2012) and PhD (2017) at Ulsan University, complemented by an AO Trauma Fellowship at BG Unfallklinik in Germany and a visiting fellowship at the University of Colorado, USA.

Clinical Expertise & Key Focus Areas:

• Primary, complex, and revision total hip replacement for severe osteoarthritis and avascular necrosis
• Total knee arthroplasty, unicompartmental knee replacement, and ligament-preserving reconstructions
• Advanced surgical management of pelvic, acetabular, and geriatric femoral neck fractures
• Minimally invasive fracture fixation, limb deformity correction, and post-traumatic joint reconstruction

As an AO Trauma National Faculty instructor, Dr. Byun integrates biomechanical precision with accelerated rehabilitation protocols to restore mobility and independence.
