- He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of many heart diseases, such as coronary artery disease, valvular and vascular heart disease, arrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, etc.
- Dr. Tripathy did his MBBS from Utkal University, Odisha, in 1982 and his MD in General Medicine from Berhampur University in 1986.

- Dr.Tripathy also pursued fellowships in Interventional Cardiology in 1997 at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad and in Cardiac pacing, Electrophysiology and Interventional Cardiology in 1988 at the University of Rouen, France.
- He is an honorary member of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and other reputed organisations.
