“While walking into the doctor’s office for the first time since my problem started, I had no idea that I would leave with the news of prostate cancer. My PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) was extremely high.”
Having a positive diagnosis for prostate cancer came as a huge shock to Aleksandr Gurskiy from Uzbekistan a few years ago. He wanted to get detailed investigations done and go abroad. This was when he decided to come to India and consult an expert.
How did he finalize the hospital?
When Aleksandr started exploring the best places for his treatment, he came to know about Vaidam. He started by posting a query regarding his problem and received a call by one of the case managers. The case manager, Archana Tripathi, asked for his reports and shared them with some of the best oncologists in India. She also helped in getting the hospital opinion and quotes. After going through all of it, Aleksandr decided to visit Max Hospital, Saket.
Vaidam assistance in getting the medical visa
Aleksandr was entirely assisted in all the paperwork needed to be done before coming to India. The case manager helped in getting the Visa Invitation Letter from the hospital. Another team member helped her in the application of the visa form. After a period of 72 hours, the medical eVisa to India was received by the patient on his email id.
The appointment with the doctor
After arriving in India, he was picked up from the airport to his hotel. Soon, his appointment was booked with Dr. Ankur Bahl, a senior medical oncologist in the hospital. The doctor listened to his case history with patience and ordered detailed investigations to reach an accurate diagnosis. He was sent for blood examination to check PSA levels, radiological examinations like transrectal ultrasound, and prostate biopsy.
Reports revelation, relief, and the treatment
After waiting for a couple of days, the reports revealed that his PSA levels were as high as 254. Whereas the normal PSA levels should be less than 4. The good news was that prostate cancer was at an initial stage yet and could be treated with medical management. Dr. Bahl recommended him to give low-dose injections at an interval of 3 months till he gets recovered completely.
The feedback
“ I cannot forget the moment I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thanks to the doctors in India, my PSA has been lowered from 254 to 1. I am extremely happy with the treatment and overall services provided by Vaidam Health”
