Penile implantation is a procedure that helps men with erectile dysfunction that has not responded to other types of treatments. Penile implant surgery involves placing a prosthetic device inside the penis and scrotum. This device helps the man achieve an erection and regain sexual function.
Penile implantation is mainly done for treating erectile dysfunction with medicines or with the use of penis pump. You can go for penile implant if you are not getting proper erection which is sufficient for sexual activity. This implant is also being used to treat some conditions inside penis scarring which results in curved and painful erections.

Then the tissue in the penis, which is normally filled with blood during an erection, is stretched and the two inflatable cylinders are then placed inside your penis. At last the incisions are being closed.
Penile implantation usually last between 15 to 20 years and it is important you should keep in mind that it is mechanical device it can break.
Risks of penile implant surgery include Infection, implant malfunction, Internal erosion or adhesion and treating the infection.
You can start doing your normal activities for 4 to 6 weeks after surgery. Till now you will get to know the use of the device.

Some of the disadvantage of penile implants are there are higher chance of malfunction with two or three piece device. There are less rigid erection and constant pressure on penis which can cause some kind of injury in patient.
The most common cause of failure of penile implant is fluid lekage, pump dysfunction, cylinder aneurysm and rupture. Some of the complications can be completely removed while others may need revision surgery
