54-years old Amanul Mohamed from Sri Lanka had been suffering from acute pain in his ears for the last couple of years. “For the last three months, my ears are not normal. I have mild ringing in both the ears. No nausea or a headache, but ears are not normal.” After multiple doctor visits and medical tests, he was diagnosed with a minor ear infraction and was advised to undergo a minute ear surgery.
On receiving this diagnosis he wasn’t completely convinced especially considering his symptoms. He knew that there was something far worse that afflicted him, “sometimes the itching got really bad and I have a tendency to touch from the outside because of the sensitivity”. His symptoms were much deeper and he was determined to get to the bottom of it.
“As time progressed, I suffered an increased loss of hearing, decreased sense of balance, and I had bouts of dizziness, my friends helped me search for possible solutions online and find top ENT hospitals in India. That’s when I discovered Vaidam.”
After considerable research online and help from family members, Amanul approached Vaidam for assistance. Giving careful thought and weighing in the possibilities available to him, he decided to get treated at Global Hospital in the South Indian metropolis of Chennai. This decision was primarily made on the bases of the proximity to his home country and the ease of travel. After reading reviews of multiple ENT specialists online, he finally narrowed his search down to Dr. K Krishna Kumar, Consultant ENT Surgeon at the Global Hospital.
He arrived in Chennai on 18 January, and was taken to Global Hospital for initial screening. It was immediately clear that there was something medically wrong with the patient and further tests were conducted. What was initially diagnosed as a minor ear surgery, turned out to be something far graver. His reports showed that he was suffering from a severe case of Temporomandibular, and was in need of major surgery with a possible extended stay in India. This News came as a shock to Amanul and his family as they had not completely come into grasp of the enormity of the situation. “We didn’t have a place to live and were not sure how long the treatment would take”.
Vaidam’s patient relations team quickly got into action and began making living arrangements for Amanul and his family that was both near the hospital and comfortable for all the family members. In addition, the team made follow-up appointments with Dr. Krishna Kumar, so that any questions that the family had about the treatment or the duration of stay were answered adequately.
Two weeks after the surgery, Amanul happily made his way out of the hospital. He thanks the best ENT specialist in India and the Vaidam team for their timely assistance and help, “after hearing the News, we were so shocked but the team really helped us out”. This would not have been possible without your help.
Amanul and his family have returned to Sri Lanka after visit that lasted 3 weeks. He is on his way to recovery and will probably return to his active life in quick time.
