- Two complex surgeries at Fortis Flt. Lt. Rajan Dhall Hospital in New Delhi, enables 21-year-old Gaurav Sharma to walk again.
- Sharma had met with an accident in 2005.
- The accident landed him with a fused hip and short left leg that compelled him to take the help of a crutch to walk.
- Since then he had undergone six surgeries at different hospitals but was in vain.
- The complication aggravated as Sharma had a nail in his thigh bone that posed a problem for the hip prosthesis.
- The muscles surrounding his hip joint was also scarred and atrophied that made his prosthetic hip joint unstable increasing the chances of a dislocation.
- Finally, Sharma underwent a successful hip replacement surgery at Fortis Flt. Lt. Rajan Dhall Hospital, performed by Dr. Dhananjay Gupta.
- All his previous implants were removed as his infection level was high.
- Six months after the hip replacement surgery, he underwent hip arthroplasty at the hospital.
- Sharma is now able to walk to again without support.
