At NOVA IVI Fertility Clinic, we successfully got our IVF treatment done. We are happy with all the staff and the treatment we received here.
Oocyte cryopreservation is a method in which the woman’s egg are being extracted, frozen and they are being stored to preserve the reproductive capacity of women in their reproductive age.
There are various factors which determine the probability of live birth of women’s age at the time of egg freezing and the number of eggs being available.
The best age to freeze your eggs is in between 20-35 years because your fertility starts to reduce from thirty years and it is greatly reduced after forty years.
Oocyte cryopreservation is needed for those women who have:
Oocyte cryopreservation is being done by Gynecologist.
Women egg are being removed from the ovary during an IVF procedure and then they are being stored at lesser freezing temperature so that they can be fertilized later.
In egg freezing procedure first your potential yield of the oocytes is estimated before the ovarian stimulation cycle. The assessment is done of the blood test and pelvic ultrasound and it also checks the dosage of medication.
The procedure of egg freezing is being done in the same way as with in vitro fertilization by using injectable hormonal medication. The oocytes and the surrounding fluid in the ovarian follicles are being aspirated vaginally and the maturity of the eggs is being assessed under a microscope and they are cryopreserved.
When women is ready for using the frozen eggs for their pregnancy the cryopreserved eggs are then placed in warming solution. The eggs which have been survived in freezing process are being fertilized with intracytoplasmic sperm injection in which a single sperm is being injected directly into the egg and the fertilized egg will grow in culture till the embryos are being ready for transferred into the uterus for pregnancy mainly after 3 to 5 days of fertilization.
According to few studies there has been increase in increase in number of the congenital abnormalities among the offsprings but more studies are still going regarding it.
The risk of the procedure are similar to those with ovarian stimulation for IVF such as small risk of ovarian hyperstimulation, infection and bleeding related to the egg retrieval procedure.
Storing the eggs for longer duration has not got any side effects according to new data the eggs can be stored upto 4 years.
The efficacy rate of oocyte cryopreservation is about 4 to 12 percent for every oocyte. There are more studies needed for getting better idea on these success rate.
Embryo transfer will take around two to five days after the egg retrieval procedure.
This procedure is relatively painless but only minor cramping is being seen after this procedure.
