A corneal inlay is a tiny device, smaller than the width of an eraser tip. During a 10-15 minute surgery, a laser is used to cut a small pocket or flap in the middle of the non-dominant eye's cornea. The inlay is then inserted into or under this pocket or flap, depending on which inlay is used.
During the procedure the surgeon places numbing drops into the eye, he or she inserts special eye drops to make the pupils dilate widely. Next, the surgeon marks the center of the pupil with a special pen. This step is important for aligning the center of the Kamra ring at the time of placement.
