Before acetabular fixation, your doctor will recommend blood tests, physical examinations, MRIs, X-rays, and CT scans. Treatment packages include testing costs.
When a patient is in the hospital, pharmacy and medicine bills are included in the package. On the other hand, if the patient buys medicines outside the hospital, they are not included in the package.
Most patients stay in the hospital for 2 to 4 days. However, depending on your condition prior to surgery, you may be required to stay longer. The first planned follow-up session should be made within ten weeks of internal fracture fixation to check that no changes in therapy have occurred.
Full recovery from fixation may take up to 6 months, however, most people are able to resume many of their everyday activities much sooner. Take your time and gradually increase your strength, allowing your bone to heal completely.
Most health insurance policies will cover orthopedic surgery, however certain operations may need a waiting period.
The APACHE method provides a viable alternative approach to the acetabular fixation that does not jeopardize the rectus abdominis and pyramidalis muscles.

Acetabular fixation is done to restore joint congruence, to fix internal bone fragments and to avoid displacement of fracture and to allow for rapid rehabilitation.
Surgical treatment is the treatment of choice to fix a broken acetabular bone, as acetabular fractures damages the cartilage surface of the bone. The surgery aims to restore a smooth, gliding hip surface.
Acetabular fractures are seen because of injuries, most patient come to the clinic because of the injuries which is being related to head, chest or abdomen region. Physical examination is very necessary in it, some important nerves and blood vessels can get injured when it breaks. X rays are being done to evaluate the location and severity of the broken bone and CT scan is needed to plan the treatment and surgery.
Non surgical treatment is conducted for those patients who have very small fractures which are not displaced, this can also be recommended for those patient who have got some serious medical problem like end stage renal disease.
Acetabular fracture surgery will take approximately one to three hours to complete under general anaesthesia.
Acetabular fixation surgery is being done by Orthopaedic surgeon.
Most of the acetabular fractures need surgery and surgery is needed to fix this fracture as soon as possible. Most of these surgeries are done through very large incisions either placed over the hip and buttock or over the abdomen and pelvis. In some cases, the acetabulum is broken in so many pieces that it cannot be fixed with plates and screws, so a total hip replacement or arthroplasty is required. Surgery usually takes 1 to 3 hours. Most patients stay in the hospital for several days after surgery.
After surgery, patients are not allowed to bear weight or walk for 6 to 10 weeks. You will be told to walk on crutches for the first few weeks after surgery.
Complications can occur with any surgery, no matter how small, and there is always a risk of infection. There is always a risk of injury to blood vessels or nerves. This is reduced by having an experienced surgeon involved in your care. Patients with acetabular fractures are at risk of developing blood clots in the legs that can break off and go to the lungs, which can cause serious bleeding problems and even death.
Most of the acetabular fractures takes about 4 to 6 months of healing time, if no complication was seen at the time of surgery then patient can do their activities by themselves. By the end of six weeks patient becomes somewhat comfortable.
