The 38-years-old Victor from Mombasa, Kenya is a health freak. He goes to the gym regularly and eats healthy. One day, earlier this year, he fainted while he was in his office. He was rushed to the hospital, and few tests were done. All the reports were normal, but he wasn't satisfied and thought to get the second opinion. He sent a query about best Cardiologist in India to Vaidam. Here's further conversation with him.

Tell us about the treatment you took?
I went to New Delhi, India for a Comprehensive heart checkup
How did you select the hospital and the doctor?
In early 2016, I went through an unfortunate event because of which I suspected Heart surgery. I was not convinced of the opinions I was getting back home. I found Vaidam on Internet and posted my query. I shared my reports and within a week I received evaluation and quotation from top 10 hospitals in India for cardiac-related treatment. The treatment plan was very exhaustive. I liked the fact that Vaidam suggested me to undergo Cardio tests in India before deciding the treatment plan. I selected Artemis Hospital in Gurgaon.
How was your experience in getting the Visa?
Securing Visa took some time as my 2-year-old son's passport wasn't ready. Once the passport was ready, I got the Visa within 1 week. I advise you to read guidelines about Yellow fever and polio before going for Visa.
How did you decide the place of stay?
Vaidam had shared options with me and chose a nice looking place at 1.5 KMs from the hospital and close to Metro station. I also needed a personal kitchen especially for my 2-year-old baby
Airport pickup?
I didn't need pickup as my cousin staying in New Delhi, came to pick me. I stayed at his place in New Delhi for one day. Next day, Vaidam patient manager came to pick me from my cousin's place.
Tell us about your experience with the doctor and hospital.
The hospital staff and doctors were very friendly and professional. I had to spend a few hours in the hospital for 2 days for tests. On the 4th day, I got all the reports. As part of the package, I had sessions with Cardio physicians, surgeons and general physician. I was fortunate my tests didn't suggest surgery. Doctors suggested medicines would be enough for a healthy heart.
How many days did you stay in the hospital?
I didn't stay in the hospital.
What did you do after the stay?
My hotel was close to the hospital, shopping and other places of interest. I was in New Delhi/Gurgaon - every day I had an interesting itinerary. All this while I became good friend with the team at Vaidam. They kept me posted on places to visit, shop, eat, etc.
Any suggestion to people traveling to India for treatment?
- If you are traveling through Ethiopian Air or Air Arabia, you will have to visit Primus Hospitals or Indian Spinal Injury Center for fit to fly certificate. Keep time for that. It's an easy process - just 30 minutes! In my case, I went with my Vaidam rep to the hospital for the certificate.
- If you are traveling with family/kid it helps if you can use the kitchen in the hotel.
- Share everything with the doctor about your medical history. More information is always good.
