Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat fibroid tumors of the uterus which can cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pain, and pressure on the bladder or bowel.

The catheter is guided to the target under fluoroscopy.
Some of the side effects of uterine fibroid embolization are injury to the uterus region, abnormal bleeding, infection of the uterus or puncture in groin region, collection of blood under the skin, injury to the artery being used and blood clots.
It will take around two to three weeks before your fibroids shrink enough for the symptoms to decrease and to return your menstrual cycle back to normal.
It will take almost a week to ten days to recover completely from embolization during the first few days you will have some amount of pelvic pain and pressure.
After uterine fibroid embolization the weight related changes starts to subside and for women having large or multiple fibroid there can be significant changes seen in the body.
