Basal cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that most often develops on areas of skin exposed to the sun, such as the face. It looks like a lump which is glossy brown and has a border.
Squamous cell carcinoma of the skin is a common form of skin cancer that develops in the squamous cells which are found in the outer and middle layer of skin, Squamous cell carcinoma of the skin is usually not life-threatening, though it can be aggressive.

Basal cell carcinoma is a slow growing cancer which sometimes spreads to other body parts while the squamous cell carcinoma rarely spreads but in some cases it spreads more than basal cell carcinoma.
Squamous cell carcinoma spreads to other parts of the body when it starts spreading its growth slows down.
Basal cell carcinoma rarely spreads beyond the original tumor site but the lesions can grow and it becomes very difficult to figure them. If basal cell carcinoma is not treated it can become locally invasive and grow wide and deeper in skin and destroys the skin, tissues and the bones.
Squamous cell carcinoma is not a life threatening disease but it can be aggressive if squamous cell carcinoma is not treated it can grow larger and spread to other body parts which can cause serious complications.
Squamous cell carcinoma usually affects the organs present inside your mouth, throat, lungs and the genitals. They can form anywhere where mucus membrane is present.
There are lots of options available for the treatment of basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. The most commonly used treatment modality is primary resection, radiotherapy and Mohs’ micrographic surgery. The standard skin cancer treatments for basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, photodynamic therapy and biologic therapy.
The tumor is being cut from the skin end with the help of curette and a needle shaped electrode is used to treat the area with electric current which stops bleeding and destroy the cancer cells which remains around the edge of the wound.
The surgical treatment of basal and squamous cell carcinoma involves cutting the tumor from the skin in thin layers and during the process the edge of tumor layer are checked microscopically for cancer cells. Layers are continuously removed till no cancer cells are seen coming out.
Radiotherapy is the most common skin cancer treatment mainly for the tumors which are large and located on those body areas which are difficult to treat, the procedure is also best for those patients who have other medical complications along with skin cancer. This procedure uses high energy particles which are delivered to the affected area along with several other treatment session for destroying cancerous tissue.
