Before the Procedure (7 Questions):

Robotic partial nephrectomy is the surgical procedure of removing a part of kidney while undergoing cancer treatment and preserving the healthy tissue of kidney as much as possible.

When patient have small tumor in kidney or when removing the entire kidney can cause kidney failure and patient need dialysis. This method is mainly preferred for patient whose kidney size is less than 4cm and if the tumor size is in between 4 to 7cm  they can be treated with robotic partial nephrectomy.

If you are taking blood thinner medicine then you should avoiding taking it 5 to 7 days before the treatment. You should avoid taking alcohol, tobacco and cigarette.

This surgery can be painful, it involves inserting very small incision to insert robotic surgical instruments.

Partial nephrectomy pain will last about 1 to 2weeks you will be given painkillers for this. You may also experience some other experience along with it such as nausea, constipation etc.

During the Procedure (3 Questions):

The process of nephrectomy will take around three or more hours to perform.

In this procedure a small keyhole shape incision is being made in the abdomen after which surgeon inserts a telescope into the abdomen. Then the abdomen is filled with carbon dioxide gas so that surgical instruments can be inserted to gain access to the cancerous tissues. The surgical equipment cuts the damaged and diseased part of kidney.

You have to remain in hospital for one to seven days after the procedure, you can start doing light activities as soon as you can. You should avoid lifting heavy objects for six weeks after the procedure.

Post the Procedure (6 Questions):

After your nephrectomy your kidney function will be overall normal. You doctor will recommend you to eat healthy food and indulge in a healthy lifestyle.

The pain after partial nephrectomy lasts for about one to two week, you will be prescribed with painkillers for this along with this you may have some other symptoms also such as nausea, diarrhea, headache etc

Patient will recover within few days after nephrectomy procedure. You will allowed to follow some instructions such as not lifting or pushing any heavy objects till you are completely recovered.

You should sleep on your back  with your arms on your sides and toes pointed towards the ceiling. This position will keep your body naturally aligned.

You should eat high protein rich food they will help in healing.

After the energy you may have low energy and you may need around three to six weeks to gain full confidence.
