What is Radical Prostatectomy?

How much time is needed for recovery after radical prostatectomy?
It will take around four to six weeks to recover completely after the procedure. You have to visit your doctor in every six weeks after the procedure. During your first year you have to visit your doctor thrice and in second year you have to visit your doctor thrice.
How long does pain last after prostate surgery?
For one to two weeks after the surgery your incisions may be sore, for this you will be given medicine. You will have a tube to drain urine from bladder for one to two weeks after surgery. You may have bladder cramps, spasm while you have catheter in your bladder.

How radical prostatectomy is being done?
In radical prostatectomy the entire prostate gland and the seminal vesicles are being removed. One tube will go directly into the bladder and the other goes into the area where prostate was removed.
