Before a pituitary tumor treatment, your doctor will do some tests: blood tests, vision tests, MRI scans, PET scans, and venous blood sampling. These tests are generally included in the package.

The medication costs are covered in the package when the patient is hospitalized. After the patient gets discharged, any medicines consumed from outside the hospital are not included in the package. 

After the treatment, the patient needs to stay 2-3 days in the hospital, overnight in the ICU, and 1 or 2 days on the nursing floor. The patient has to go to a laboratory for a blood draw between 4-7 days after the discharge. It is essential to visit your specialist regularly to check if the tumor has recurred. If the tumor recurs, it will be treated with radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, or repeat surgery. All these have additional charges.

Yes, the treatment is covered by the insurance company. But, you should review your insurance policy regarding the amount of coverage.

Radiation therapy could be an alternative to this treatment. It can be used after surgery or alone if surgery isn’t an option. But the benefits of radiation surgery are not immediate and may take months or years.
