Nissen fundoplication is the surgery which is being used for correcting the gasteoesophageal reflux disease, this surgery is also used for tightening the junction between the esophagus and stomach for preventing acid reflux.

During Nissen fundoplication the surgeon will make four to five small incisions in your abdomen and then inserts a laparoscope into your abdomen. The surgeon inserts a laparoscope in the abdomen and the uses the camera images and small operating tools for wraping the upper part of stomach near the lower esophagus at last the incision is closed with stitches.
After the procedure you may have sore throat for few days, if you have undergone open nasogastric surgery then you will need a temporary nasogastric tube which clears the digestive juices of your stomach while you are healing.
Hospital stay of usually one to two days is needed after surgery, you will be able to resume your normal activity when you have passed gas or you had bowel movement.
