Your doctor will do several tests before esophagus cancer treatment, such as a barium swallow test, CT scan, MRI scan, PET scan, bronchoscopy, upper endoscopy, thoracoscopy, and laparoscopy. All the test costs are included in the package.

All the medicines consumed during the time frame when the patient is in the hospital are covered in the package. If the patient buys medicines from outside the hospital, they have to pay money for them separately. 

You will have to stay in the hospital for 7-14 days after the treatment. You may spend 1-3 days in the ICU right after the surgery. You can schedule follow-up visits every 3-6 months after initial treatment for 1-2 years, every 6-12 months after 3 to 5 years, and once a year after five years.

You can expect 6-8 weeks of recovery after the procedure. Esophagus cancer never goes away completely and has chances of recurrence within 2-3 years after resection. Chemotherapy may be used if cancer recurs, which costs additional charges. If you experience infection, blood clots, and bleeding, you should visit your doctor as early as possible. 

Most insurance policies cover esophagus cancer treatment, and it is important to keep health insurance even after the treatment because your cancer can come back.

You can go for chemotherapy, radiation, laser, and photodynamic therapy. Surgery with the combination of chemotherapy could be more effective.
