Cancer arising in cells of the cervix is known as Cervical Cancer. The cervix is the lowermost part of the uterus. This kind of cancer can be prevented by a PAP smear and HPV vaccination.

There are signs and symptoms like bleeding in between periods, foul-smelling vaginal discharge, and lower back pain.

For prevention, we have Gardasil vaccination.

For treatment, we have various surgical procedures, depending upon the stage of cancer we can do

What is the cost of tests for Cervical Cancer Treatment?

A Pap test can detect abnormal cells in the cervix and an HPV DNA test helps find infection in the cervix that is likely to lead to cervical cancer. The chemotherapy drugs most commonly used for treating cervical cancer include topotecan (Hycamtin), cisplatin (Platinol), paclitaxel (Taxol), gemcitabine (Gemzar), carboplatin (Paraplatin), etc. These medicines are not covered in the package price.

Is there any post-treatment expense after getting Cervical Cancer treatment?

You need to take the medicines prescribed by your doctor in case you experience pain, The medicines are not covered in the package. Before the Procedure (7 Questions):

Some of the signs of cervical cancer are vaginal bleeding, abnormal vaginal discharge, pain during intercourse, pelvic and lower back pain, pain and swelling in legs and unexplained weight loss.

Cervical cancer are caused  due to an infection with some high risk type of human papillomavirus, you can get this virus from direct skin to skin contact of genital areas mainly through vaginal, anal or oral sex.

In the first stage of cervical cancer means that cancer is in only the neck of the womb and it ca be easily treated by surgery, you may also need chemotherapy and radiotherapy if you are having stage 1B of cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer starts in cervix, it begins in lower part of the uterus  which is connected with vagina. Various strain of HPV plays an important role in causing most of the cases of cervical cancer.

The cancer is most commonly seen in women of age 35 to 44 years  and the average age is 50 yrs .

It will take few years to decade to check if you have cervical cancer, it is most likely to develop faster in people who have weak immune system.

You can be at the risk of getting cervical cancer if you have started having sex before 16 years, taking birth control pills, have multiple sex partners, weak immune system or sexually transmitted disease.

During the Procedure (3 Questions):

Cervical cancer is being diagnosed by Papanicolaou test (Pap smear) and high-risk HPV testing. Some cells are being collected from the surface of your cervice and if something unusual is seen then some cervical tissues are being taken for biopsy.  Some other metho for diagnosing cervical cancer is colposcopy which is like pelvic examination.

Radiotherapy and surgery are the two most common treatment for cervical cancer other treatment options are chemotherapy and biological therapy. If the cancer cell is only present on the surface of cervix then doctor can remove or destroy it by cold knife conisation. If it’s spread into your uterus, your doctor will probably recommend a hysterectomy.

Chemotherapy uses powerful drugs to kill cancer cells. Doctors often use it for cervical cancer that’s locally advanced or has spread to other parts of the body. Chemotherapy happens in cycles of intensive treatment followed by recovery periods.

Post the Procedure (3 Questions):

The presence of microscopic areas of cancer cells can cause the cancer to return some time after the surgery.

Side effects are not there but could include bleeding, infection, or damage to the urinary and intestinal systems such as the bladder or colon.

It can take up to 4 to 6 weeks to fully recover from the operation.
