Success Rate

the survival rate depends on many factors like age and health of patient, type, location, and stage of cancerous growth. The tendency of getting diagnosed early made the survival rate high so the five-year survival rate for bladder cancer is around 75-80%. Old age, smoking, family history are high-risk factors for bladder cancer, Also it is gender biased as males are far more susceptible to it than females. In some cases, exposure to certain chemicals also has been found to be carcinogenic.

Frequently Asked Questions Related to Bladder Cancer Treatment

Before the Procedure (5 Questions):

Bladder cancer most common type of cancer which lies  inner side of your bladder and it mainly affects the older adults.

Some of the symptoms of bladder cancer are blood in urine, frequent urination, painful urination and back pain.

Bladder cancer begins when cells in the bladder develop changes (mutations) in their DNA. A cell's DNA contains instructions that tell the cell what to do. The abnormal cells form a tumor that can invade and destroy normal body tissue and when the abnormal cells can break away and spread (metastasize) through the body.

Warning signs of bladder cancer includes blood in urine, pain during urination and frequent urination.

Cigarette smoking, previous radiotherapy, certain chemotherapy, parasitic infection, previous infection of bladder stones and other cancer.

During the Procedure (6 Questions):

Transurethral resection is most common test done to find where the cancer has spread into bladder wall.  The standard treatment for bladder cancer is chemotherapy followed by radical cystectomy.

Yes, bladder cancer can spread easily and  may grow quick in some cases such as “bladder carcinoma” which is a specific type of bladder cancer.

When bladder cancer is invasive some or all parts of cancer are needed to be removed, this is known as cystectomy.

Partial cystectomy is the removal of a section of the bladder. This type of surgery retains most of the bladder and chemotherapy or radiation therapy is often used in combination. Radical cystectomy is complete removal of the bladder. It is used for more extensive cancers and those that have spread beyond the bladder. This surgery is often done using a robot, which removes the bladder and any other surrounding organs as the bladder is removed, a procedure called a urinary diversion must be done so that urine can exit the body. A pouch constructed of intestine may be made inside the body, or a leak-proof bag worn outside the body may be used to collect urine.

The procedure typically requires a hospital stay of five to six days or even more depending on your recovery.

Most of the bladder cancer are curable if they are treated at an early stage. In some cases the early stage bladder can come after successful treatment.
