Being a former cardiac patient, Suruj Prasad from Fiji was suggested to have a revision CABG surgery when he consulted his doctor in Fiji for a recent chest pain. Thereafter, accompanied by his wife, he travelled to India for his surgery. Here, Prasad shares how his medical tour experience has been and how wrongly his condition was diagnosed earlier:
Why was a revision CABG suggested to you?
I have had a CABG surgery done in New Zealand on November, 2004 for my cardiac blockages. It is after about 13 years that I was again experiencing chest pain. The doctor in Fiji told me that though an angiogram is necessary, it is risky because of my age and suggested a revision CABG surgery. It is quite unnerving when you are 62-years-old and start having symptoms for which you have already undergone a major surgery. I didn’t want to take any chances and looked for the best hospitals in cardiology and that is when I came across Vaidam Health.
Where did you have your treatment in India?
I went to Fortis Hospital, Noida where Dr. Vaibhav Mishra performed an angiogram and surprisingly there was no risk in it. Furthermore, the good news is that a revision CABG was not required. The diagnosis of Dr. Mishra came as a relief to me.
How was your overall experience at Fortis Hospital?
It has been great. I stayed in the hospital for four days and not for a moment did I feel any lack of care. I also had my neurology check –up done at the hospital. The doctors, the patient care team and all the staffs are organized, dedicated and amiable. Fortis Hospital itself has all the modern facilities and infrastructure for any medical specialty so I didn’t have to worry about the quality of their treatment and completely relied on them.
How did you consult Fortis Hospital?
After I received a call from Vaidam, my case manager helped me out with hospital and doctor options and cost. He had also sent me quotes from the doctor. So, I knew about the hospital, the doctor and the treatment charges and accordingly I chose Fortis Hospital for my treatment. Thereafter, an appointment was duly made with the doctor before my arrival in India.
In what other ways did you receive Vaidam’s assistance?
In this one month’s medical trip to India, I have realized that I wouldn’t have got the assistance and care I received from Vaidam, anywhere else. From arranging accommodation and pick up from the airport to follow-ups till the end, they have been there for us always. So, I knew that if I face any problem in the country I would just have to call them and they would definitely help me out. I am grateful to them for their constant support and assistance.
