Health conditions, may that be a disease or a deformity, are like capricious monsters that make one suffer. Irrespective of rigorous medical treatments, at times it is very difficult to convince them to leave the body. 69-year-old Yunus Hassanmiya Gaibi’s family has been trying to rescue their father and husband from the clutches of dreadful cardiac conditions for almost two decades, but in vain. After a treatment in India, Gaibi tells his story as to how he got purged of his prolonged cardiac condition.
What cardiac problem did you have?
I had to undergo a CABG surgery almost 17 years ago because of heart blockages. After that I thought maybe there would not be anymore repercussions or any other medical ailment but then I had to be implanted with stents again as it was not successful. In between 2008 and 2010 I had to fly to UK for an ATG therapy and iron chelation therapy as I was diagnosed with myelodysplasia. I received numerous blood transfusions and even suffered from two heart attacks. All these years have been extremely tedious. It’s like I revive from one ailment hoping everything will be alright but before I even know I get bogged down by another. Recently I again experienced a heart attack. This time the angiogram reports revealed that there was about 50 percent blockage in my left anterior descending (LAD) artery that reduced my cardiac efficiency to about 40 percent. I do not what exactly was going on inside my body that I got so caged in this diseased lifestyle.
Where did you go to have your treatment in India?
I underwent a CABG surgery at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (FEHI) performed by Dr. Y.K Mishra.
How do you feel after the surgery?
I feel cured and recovered after the treatment. There was a certain feeling of heaviness in my chest along with pain. But now, after a week of the surgery, all of these symptomatic conditions are gone and I am relieved. When Dr. Mishra suggested me a revision CABG, I was frightened. The procedure of CABG is itself very prolonged and serious. At this point what I expected was the expertise and deftness of the surgeon because only he could save me. And I must say that my expectations have been met. Dr. Mishra is one of the kindest and best cardiac surgeon in India that I have ever witnessed. His guidance and suggestions are on point as well as his talent in surgery. I appreciate all his endeavors as well as the medical facilities and infrastructure available at FEHI. The hospital does not lack in any medical technology and houses an excellent patient care team.
