Victoria from Sierra Leone Defeats her Back Pain Without Surgery

Ms. Victoria Bondu Allieu, who is from Sierra Leone started experiencing pain in her upper back and neck about a year ago. The pain kept progressing to sharp and extreme pain. Finally, when she consulted a local spine surgeon, she was diagnosed with Spondylosis.

I am Victoria Bondu Allieu and I am from Sierra Leone.

What brought you to India?

I got extremely worried when I was diagnosed with Spondylosis. I needed surgery for a permanent gets away from the annoying back pain. Due to limited resources in Sierra Leone, I had to travel abroad to get good treatment. During this time, I came to know that India is a widely known medical hub across the globe. It is known for advanced infrastructure and reasonably low costs. 

How did you choose the doctor and the hospital?

While searching on the internet for the best spine surgeons in India, we found out about Vaidam Health, which would assist us in everything related to the treatment. I posted a query and received a call shortly after that. I was asked to share my reports and pictures to get the hospital opinion. After I shared my reports, I got a list of some top dermatology hospitals. The case manager, Dr. Akshita Nigam also helped me in selecting the hospital. She informed me about cost, accommodations nearby and the doctors available. Finally, I was to decide to visit Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon. 

How did you get the visa?

This process was also made easier by the Vaidam team. They helped me getting the Visa Invitation Letter from the hospital. After getting it, I applied for the visa and received it within a week.

How did you arrange your stay at the hotel?

My hotel stay was also arranged by Vaidam. It was booked on the basis of my closest proximity to the hotel, ease of commuting and also on my other preferences.

Tell us about your experience after reaching India.

After my arrival in India on 16th May 2019, a person from Vaidam team was waiting outside the airport to pick me up and drop at my hotel. After getting some rest and freshening up, I had my appointment fixed with Dr. SK Ranjan. During the appointment, the doctor patiently heard my entire story from the beginning, saw my reports, and did a physical examination. He then ordered further investigations and other tests. After getting the reports, he gave me a piece of good news that I did not need any surgery. He administered some injections for pain management, which greatly relieved my pain.
