There are numerous anatomical deformities that may appear and develop since birth. It may affect any organ or part of the body, vital or not. Tsering Nyendak from Nepal suffered from prominent ears – a deformity that made the ears protrude outwards from the head making it prominent from the front and the back. To correct the structure of his ear, Nyendak arrived in India.
Before we learn his story you should know that ears have three parts: the external ear, the middle ear and the inner ear. Nyendak’s congenital condition was with the structure of the external ear also known as pinna. The prominent parts of the pinna include helix, antihelix, scapha and concha. The helix is the folded rim of the ear whereas the antihelix is the curved cartilage that runs parallel to the helix. The depression formed between the helix and the antihelix is known as scapha and the depression beyond which the middle ear begins is known as concha.
The antihelix of Nyendak’s ears was underdeveloped giving way for the scapha and helical rim to protrude out. Thus his ear did not develop in the usual angle but jutted outwards. “I did not like the way my ears appeared and wanted to restore its normal structure”, said he.
In his search for the best ear plastic surgeon in India and healthcare centers, he approached Vaidam Health online. “I went through their website and thought that I may have reached the right place. I received a response immediately after I dropped my enquiry and indeed I got appointment with one of the best plastic surgeons in India at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon”.
Director of plastic and reconstructive surgery at FMRI, Dr. Anil Behl performed an otoplasty to attain the right alignment of his ears and provide it with the correct structure. “Dr. Behl is an excellent cosmetic surgeon. What I thought would be a prolonged procedure proved to be just a simple day care surgery. I did not feel uncomfortable or pain after the treatment. His post-operative advice and suggestions worked wonders as following them have provided me with effective results. I cannot believe that my ears have got their natural structure after so many years and I am happy”.
Impressed with the dedicated assistance and guidance of Vaidam Health, Nyendak happily said, “My experience under the care of Vaidam was a pleasant one. While at first, skeptical of the quality of services an organization I had encountered through the internet could provide, it did not take long for me to get convinced that I had made the right decision on having approached Vaidam for help. My case manager, Dr. Sapna Joseph, is an extremely helpful and efficient individual who not only performed all her duties excellently but also seemed to show a genuine concern for my well being. I am also grateful to Saurabh who was there at the hospitals to assist me in completing all the necessary paperwork. Having him there was of great help and is much appreciated. I would like to recommend Vaidam to anyone hoping to get treatment in India. It certainly makes the entire process much simpler and hassle-free. Thank you Vaidam for all that you have done to help me find one of the top hospitals for ear surgery in India”.
